See,think,wonder

In the image below i see emus eating, gum trees, dry grass, bushes, men trying to catch the emus, animal skin clothes, dry branches and stones.

i think that this photo represents the indigenous people hunting for food with there spears. Trying to catch the emus for food for there tribes.

i have a couple questions as well, how do they make the spears to catch the emus and other wild life? Also how do they find the patches of wild life and know exactly when to throw the spears? My last question is how long d hey wait for the perfect moment to strike?

Amazing avatars!

There are lots of Great websites like  doppleme.com.
In my case I used ArtStudio because i could add in more detail and add more features with my styles. I like to have big hair and bright colouring my outfit so made sure to include colour. This avatar represents me because I have brown hair and I always like to have a big bun. I definitely recommend using ArtStudio or doppleme.com

Do you like making avatars and what is your favourite part making them?

Library Reflection

What genre of books do you  enjoy reading the most?
I enjoy reading graphic novels because they show illustrations. Raina Telgemeier is my favourite author beacause some of her books are true stories. They are also quick reads depending on how much time you have to read.

I would recommend Ghosts because it is about a family moving and they move to a place where they celebrate the Day of the Dead. It shows family and friendship. It shows that not all ghosts are bad. One of the amazing things about the story is that the Day Of The Dead festival is a thing lots of people still do now.

My first book chat book in year 5 is Toad Rage. It is about a Cane Toad called Limpy who is trying to figure out why humans hate Cane toads. So far I am loving the book. It is a mix of adventure and humour.

My last Year4 post!

Dear Future Year 4’s,

I hear you’re coming up to 4LX next year.

Here’s three things you should know:

• When you are doing your work you don’t need to check with the teacher A.L.L T.H.E  T.I.M.E.

  • Comment BONANZA MONTH! It is basically when you have to comment on each other’s blog. Who ever has the most comments wins! 4LX has a winning streak.
  • If you give Mrs Lennox the same amount of attention and care she will treat you with games and lots of fun things.

A couple of things to look forward to are: •

  • having the chance to go in Vivace and at the end of the year bellcanto.
  • Convict day, it is when you dress up as a convict THEN you can write a diary from them.

A time I laughed was when we were doing our nativity and at the end Jesus says to the wave: hey wave get down!

A time I was challenged was when I had to learn times table because I didn’t know many.

I am proud of how much my writing has grown because now I have my pen license.

I always remember Mrs Lennox saying That was Amazing.

Nativity play!!

“Perhaps to make sure that no-one is over paying we could make all the people of your empire return to their hometown?” Suggest the messenger.

4T wrote a NATIVITY PLAY! We had to perform it I Front of many audiences ( Yr4 Heddly Sutton Yr2s and parents.). We had to first audition for a part we would want. Then we got our parts and practiced lines. I got messenger , singing angel and Jesuses audience.

A challenge in this was probably getting changed in time and getting the out fit on. Since my rolls are pretty spaced apart you would think it’s easy but they have a lot of things to put on. String halos all of that. I got through it by always having the same shirt on then I put on my pant put on the dress and I was good to go.

Overall I really enjoyed making the props getting the costume and playing in the play!

If you were in the play who would you be and why?

Natural disaster research

This term we researched a natural disaster.

I researched and wrote my own report on earthquakes.

We ended the unit by presenting to our year 2 buddy’s. We showed our diorama and our report on the natural disaster.

Whilst creating my diorama experienced success when I was creating the rocks on the volcano. I had a limited amount of time and I got it done within the last 2 days. I had a lesson which took up half of the second last lesson so I had just started. So on the last day I finished it and I felt very successful.

Which natural disaster are you most interested in and why?

Area & Perimeter

In Measurement and Geometry we are looking at calculating the perimeter and area of regular shapes.

Perimeter is the border or edges of the area. Area is what is inside the perimeter.

In the real world using knowledge of this would help you build houses because you need to know the perimeter of the area you build in.

I made different shapes and calculated the perimeter and area of them:

When have you used area and perimeter?

Division Maths

We are the near the end of year and have learned many different strategies to help us in all areas of maths.

One particularly interesting method to help you to divide big numbers can be to know the divisibility rules.

Each group in our class investigated one and has made a video to share so that we can all learn from each other.

My group made this one on 6’s.

Watch my video carefully and answer the final question.

W.E.D!

In integrated we are learning about weathering, erosion and deposition
Weathering is when sand or water swirls around in one way. Then it slowly eats away at the rock and it has big craters. Also with waves smashing against the coast.

Erosion is when rocks are moved to a different place. These small chunks are moved by wind and water.

This photo is a example of erosion and deposition. You can see that the leaves and tanbark have been moved into a new place. You can then see it has landed against the fence.

Deposition is where it is then dumped by erosion and it has landed in a new place.

This is a example of weathering. You can see that people and heavy objects have been placed on this area and have created a hole in the path way. Cars could of also went on that path way and broken it down.

What else do you think could of made that hole?

GRA STEAM challenge

We are participating in the GRA. GRA is the Global Read Aloud when schools all around the world read the same book. We are able to skype and ask questions about the book. The book chosen this year is Front Desk.

The book is about a girl named Mia and her family are immigrants from China. They are starting to create their life in America.
So far I have loved the ups and downs with Jason and Mia. I don’t want to spoil anything so let’s just say. They started not really friends, then they got to ( well Jason got to love) then they became enemies! I am really wondering what will happen next between those two.

To challenge our creative thinking, we were given challenges that Mia has faced in the book. I chose to think about  a plan to alert the immigrants so they know when Mr Yao is there.
Here is my plan

What plan would you think of for this challenge?
